Think this is footage from ‘The Year Punk Broke’….a video ( home movie style) that documents the band Sonic Youth’s 1991 tour of Europe…with some amazing support acts in tow….two being Nirvana and Dinosaur Jr. I’d recommend checking out full ‘The Year Punk Broke’ video. Mainly Sonic Youth but performances from Nirvana and Dinosaur Jr, Babes in Toyland also. I actually saw the beginning of this tour…in Dublin. they played in Cork then Dublin in Ireland then to the UK for the Reading Festival that year, along with other UK shows…and then onto Europe. This was about 1 month before Nirvana released Nevermind, so they were not that well known at that point. They’d literally finished shooting the video for Smells Like Teen Spirit the weekend before they flew to the UK in August 1991 to start the European tour.

I’m surprised no one have informed Mr. Rory that this is from -81, not -78. About the solo’s I’m not a fan of Tommy Mars imagination when it comes to soloing. Not that he’s not a very skillful and talented musician, it’s just my personal taste.

I'm still, af 50 years of listening to Zappa, amazed by the proficiency of the musicians, regardless of what instrument the play! Zappa Lives!

As others have stated, Paul Harvey was a staple on radio. Everybody knew his voice and his “rest of the story” program.

Oh, I missed a Jesse Lee Peterson's video, he always tries to feel uncomfortable and leaving all the people that interview without arguements and without answers to confront him properly. I love his interviews for its format although I'm not agree with his political views. 23:56 this is why the military is less respected nowadays. So many atrocities are committed by regular people who come from all classes, and hide behind the “ oh we were just following orders”. We live in a time where everything is slowly coming to light, some say this is the most dangerous times but they are just blinding themselves with good deeds that their own government tell them.

This performance was from the early 90's so, yeah, Les and the band were pretty young at the time.

STP was definitely a 90’s band. They actually got a lot of shit back in the day for supposedly being either a Pearl Jam or AIC “rip off,” but I think they kind of got a bad rap in that way. They definitely had their own thing going on, they just happened to come along, or start getting attention, right after the Seattle bands. I think the industry had something to do with that. After 1992, there was all of a sudden a market for heavy rock bands with baritone lead singers. If your band happened to fit that bill, you were going to get snapped up and pushed out there.

My family grew up listening to the great Paul Harvey. He was one of a kind, like Elvis in my opinion !!

in the 80s australia was the place to be - the talent that was around in the pubs and in the charts was all Australian with a splatter of American and english music trying to push its way through - I doubt there will be another great decade for aussie music that the 80s

Thanks for reacting to this one Rory, beyond all of his theatrics, it's his songwriting that I love the most... and yeah his vocals are incredible. He still sounds great to this day even in his early 70s. This song is open to interpretation, i'll leave it at that.

More STP, please. I don't think this is one of their best tracks, but its ok. They were amazing band with an amazing frontman. He didnt had powerfull voice like Vedder, Cornell or Staley, but I think he had best technique and best color (among other things).

Paul was a legend for decades on radio and tv for his news commentaries and his "Rest of the Story" tales.
